Hindlimb Arteries Flashcards
How many branches are off of the caudal gluteal A?
4: Iliolumbar, Cranial gluteal, Lateral Caudal, and Dorsal Perineal
Cranial Gluteal A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
Middle and Deep Gluteals- abductors & medial rotators of the limb
Iliolumbar A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
Psoas minor, Iliopsoas, Sartorious, Tensor Fascia latae, Middle Gluteals: flexors/abductors & medial rotators of hip
External Iliac A. passes through what structure to become what Artery?
Passes through vascular lacuna to become the Deep Femoral Artery
What are the 2 branches off of the Deep Femoral Artery?
At the pudendoepigastric trunk: the external pudendal and caudal epigastric artery branch. Medial circumflex femoral: with transverse and deep branches.
Caudal epigastric A.supplies? Action of those muscles?
Caudoventral abdominal muscles: Hypaxial muscles
What runs through the femoral triangle? What can you do here? What muscles constitute?
Femoral A/V and Saphenous N. You can take a pulse here. The three muscles are the sartorious, vastus medialis, pectineus
Medial Circumflex Femoral A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
Adductors, obturator, hip joint. Adduction/Lateral Rotation of Limb.
Deep Branch of Medial Circumflex Femoral A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
Adductor and vastus medialis. Adduction of limb and extension of stifle.
Transverse Branch of Medial Circumflex Femoral A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
Adductor, semimembranosus. Adduction of limb, and extension of hip.
Femoral Artery has how many branches?
7: superficial circumflex iliac, lateral circumflex femoral, proximal caudal femoral, saphenous, descending genicular, middle caudal femoral, distale caudal femoral
Superficial Circumflex Iliac A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
sartorious, tensor fascia latae, rectus femoris. Hip flexors
Lateral Circumflex Femoral A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
rectus femoris, vastus medialis, tensor fascia latae. Hip Flexors
Proximal caudal femoral A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
pectineus, adductor, gracilis. Limb adductors
Saphenous A. supplies? Action of those muscles?
