Abdominal Nerves Flashcards
Vagus Nerve
Starts in the vagosympathetic trunk- then branches into dorsal and ventral branches. The dorsal branch gives off a celiac branch.
Vagus nerve carries both sensory/motor fibers to abdominal viscera.
Splanchnic Nerve
Sympathetic Neurons. There are both Major and Minor splanchnic nerves. They go to the celiacomesenteric ganglia and plexus?
Minor Splanchnic Nerve
Usually paired. Come out at the last thoracic/first lumbar. Carry sympathetic.
Supply: adrenal gland, ganglion, plexus
Lumbar Splanchnic Nerve
Branch from L2-5
Lumbar sympathetic ganglia
Supply: aorticorenal, cranial mesenteric, caudal mesenteric ganglia and plexuses
Celiac Ganglia
Found near the origin of celia A
Supply: go with the celia A, as a plexus, and supply upper abdominal area
Cranial Mesenteric Ganglia
an extension of the vagus nerve.
group of sympathetic ganglia
continue as cranial mesenteric plexus
supply?: ascending, descending, transverse colon?
Celiacomesenteric ganglion/plexus
Combo of celiac and cranial mesenteric ganglia
supply?: colon? abdominal viscera?
Caudal Mesenteric Ganglion
Branch into the right and left hypogastric nerves, which course near the ureters and connect with pelvic plexus
