Signs and symptoms of a PE
A
DIB; ^RR; pleuritic chest pain
RR>20; HR>100; sats<92; DVT
Substernal chest pain; cough; haemotypsis; syncope; sinus tachycardia; S1, Q3, T3; right axis; RBBB

Causes of a PE
A
Big clot forms in deep vein. Chunk breaks off.

Management of a PE
A
Hospital ABC Sit up unless low BP O2 Prepare for arrest

Risk factors DVT
A
High - hip or leg fracture; major surgery; major trauma; SCI
Moderate - chronic heart or resp failure; chemo; HRT; cancer; pill; paralytic stroke; post-partum; previous VTE (venous thromboembolism).
Low - bed rest > 3 days; prolonged car or air travel; age; obesity; pregnancy; varicose veins
