Build up of fat in the liver - usually in fat cunts
Early stages can be harmless
Can lead to cirrhosis; diabetes & portal hypertension
Causes of hepatitis
Inflammation of the liver, usually caused by viral infection or liver damage from excess alcohol
Some cases pass and others are more serious and can cause scarring (cirrhosis), loss of function & cancer
What is haemochromatosis
Inherited condition where iron builds up over time
Damages liver, joints, heart & pancreas
More common in Celtic regions & white northern Europeans
Causes of primary biliary cirrhosis
Usually found during blood test for something else
Once diagnoses you need an ultrasound to assess damage
