Psychosis
A
Loss of some contact with reality
Visual or auditory hallucinations
Delusions
Can be caused by schizophrenia; bi polar; depression
Triggered by trauma; stress; drugs & alcohol; prescribed meds; tumour
Help - anti-psychotic meds (block dopamine, a transmitter, inc pine/zine/done). Can be tablets or depot every 2/3/4 weeks for pts struggling to manage regular meds.

Acute behavioural disturbance
A
Tactile hyperthermia; constant physical activity; extreme agitation or aggression
Glass attraction/destruction
Not just cocaine use (same levels as recreational users & less than those dead from cocaine toxicity)
Genetic susceptibility

Often described as a type of psychosis Muddled thoughts based on hallucinations & delusions Lost interest in everyday activities Not caring about hygeine Wanting to avoid people, inc friends Does not cause violence, not directly Antipsychotic meds & CBT
