Blood pressure meds
ACE = Brill - ramipril, lisinopril, enalapril, perindopril
ARB = Posh Bread - candesartan, irbesartan, losartan
CCB = Xmas - amlodipine, felodipine, nifedipine
Diuretics = Tide/mide/ide - indapamide, bendroflumethiazide
Beta blockers = no laugh - atenolol, bisoprolol, propranalol
Diabetes meds
Heart failure meds
Digoxin
Epilepsy meds
Asthma meds
HIV meds
Anxiety meds
Propanalol
Sertraline
Escitalopram
ACE Inhibitors
Angiotensin converting enzyme

Relax blood vessels
Persistent dry cough, headaches, dizziness
ARBs
Angiotensin 2 receptor blocker Posh bread Relax vessels Similar to ACE & offered if ACE cause troublesome side effects Dizziness, headaches, flu like symptoms
CCB
Calcium channel blockers Xmas Over 55 or afro/carib Widen blood vessels Headaches, swollen ankles, constipation (avoid grapefruit juice)
Diuretics

Flush excess water & salt
Used if CCBs cause side effects
Dizziness on standing, increased thirst & urination, rash
Low potassium & sodium after long term use
Beta blockers
No laughing matter
Heart beats slower & with less force
Usually only used when others haven’t worked for BP
Dizziness, headaches, tiredness, cold peripheries
Migraines & anxiety
Statins
Lower cholesterol
Some doesn’t matter when taken and some should be taken at night
Offered for hx CVD or likelihood of it
Depression meds
Mirtazipine
Fluoxetine (Prozac)
Antibiotics
