TICLS
What is the TICLS mneumonic?
tone, interaction, consolabiltiy, Look/gaze, speech/cry
PAT Work of breathing assessment (5)
- spontaneous, 2. rate (tachy/brady), 3. sounds (grunting/stridor/wheeze), 4. posturing (tripod/sniffing/head bobbing/ seesaw), 5. retraction or flaring
PAT circulation assessment (4)
COLOR: normal, pale, mottled, cyanotic
PAT triage categories and criteria
Sick- 0 disruption , sicker- 1 disruption, sickest 2+ disruptions
Temperature parameters (max/min and ages)
<95 at any age or >102
<97 or >100.4 IF UNDER 90 days old.
What is Hypovolemic shock?
loss of fluid including blood
What are three types of distributive shock?
- anaphylactic, 2. septic, 3. neurogenic
What is the cause of hypotension in Neurogenic shock?
loss of sympathetic tone, causes vasodilation that decreases blood pressure
What three things can cause hypotension in septic shock?
endotoxins, ^cap permeability, 3rd spacing
What causes Anaphylactic shock ?
histamine release
Obstructive Shock definition
Physical obstruction of blood pumped out or returning to the heart
Causes of obstructive shock (4)
- CHD, 2. tamponade, 3. tension pneumo, 4. pulmonary emobolism
What is Cardiogenic shock?
mechanical pump failure, < C.O.
