Parellel R/y Flashcards
2 modes of aprch to parallel r/ys
Independent
Dependant
Both based on radar separation
Parallel r/y ops req
A/c must have ILS/MLS
Must be radar monitored, regardless of wx
Only straight in aprch
Track reversals prohibited
Mode 1 - independent parallel aprch
Intercept angle = 30*
A/c need to be 2nm straight and level min prior to interception of the GS
Missed aprch tracks diverge by at least 30*
Mode 2 dependant parallel aprch
Different from mode 1 by
3nm min separation on the same loc
2nm min separation on diff loc
Not less than 915m between the 2 r/y centrelines
Mode 3 - simultaneous inst departures req
Not less than 760m from centreline of the r/y
Tracks must diverge by 15*
A/c must be identified by 1nm from ATC
Mode 4 segregated dep and arrivals req - parallel r/y
Intercept the loc by 45* - max turn
Not less than 760m unless staggered by 150m and can reduce by 30m
Absolute min = 300m from the centreline of each r/y
Diff between NOZ ant NTZ
NOZ (Normal operating zone) extends from the threshold out to the point where the a/c joins the extended centreline - mode 1 ops - 1/2 scale deflection will keep you within this
NTZ (normal transgression zone) extends from r/y threshold closest to the nearest descent point where 1,000ft vertical separation is lost - must be at least 610m - penetration by an a/c, req ATC intervention
When must wake turbulence separation be applied to parallel r/y ops
If r/y spacing is less than 760m
Or
Flight paths of dep and arriving traffic cross at the same alt (within 1,000ft)
