Obstacle identification surface
A/d obstacle is defined as
Obstacles that protrude through the OIS it to a distance of 15km
Goes up to 45m in height out to 3,000m then ascends it the full 15km
A/d vehicle lights
Emerg = red or yellowish green - flashing blue if responding to emerg
Service vehicles - yellow - low intensity flashing yellow
Trailers - steady red
Low mobility — steady red
Obstacle lighting - low intensity
Fixed red lights
Under 45m
Obstacle lights - medium intensity colour and used when
Flashing red
Except
When used with a high intensity - flashing white
Obstacles height is greater than 45m
High intensity lights colour and when used

Obstacle height exceeds 150m from the surrounding ground
Tall objects are defined as and light requirements
Above 45m
Lights need to be provided at intermediate levels
Lighting of a/c
Provided by nav lights

Ancillary lighting that determines the extremities of the a/c
En route obstacles are defined as and should be lit
Located beyond the 15km radius of the a/d and if they exceed 150m in height
Lit by -steady red lights at night, high intensity flashing white by day
Colour of flags used to mark fixed obstacles in an a/d
Orange
High tension cables are marked by
Coloured spheres - not less than 60cm in diameter
Closed t/y and r/y markings
White X for r/y - yellow for t/y
Permanently closed - all r/y markings should be obliterated

Can fire stations be precluded off the a/d
