Who’s responsible for the AIS
The state,ensures it is timely
If a 24hr AIS service is not avail
Must be avail for the whole time the a/c is in flight plus 2 hrs before and after such period

AIP contains
Permanent info
Info concerning long duration temp changes - 3 months or more
Does NOT contain a/d operating minima
3 parts of the AIP
Part 1 = GEN
Part 2 = ENR
Part 3 = AD
4 parts to the GEN sections
1 - entry, transit and dep of pax, a/c instruments, equipment and flight docs
2 - ICAO 4 letter codes
3 - services, AIS, met, SAR
4 - charges for a/d and heliports, air nav service charges
ENR 6 parts
1 - general rules 2- ATS airspace 3- ATS routes, min flight alt 4 - radio nav/systems 5 - nav warnings 6 - enroute charts

AIRAC stands for and is a means of

AIRAC info is distributed by the AIS at least 42 days in advance - info must not be changed for 28 days
Major change = 56 days in advance
AIP supplements and what are they allocated
Temp changes of long duration ( 3 months or more)
Allocated a serial no based on the calendar year
Can you inc AIP supplements in the NOTAM?
Yes asap and will refer to the serial number of the NOTAM. When it is published
A checklist of the AIP supplements currently in force will be issued
At intervals of not more than 1 months
NOTAM consists of
Info of temp nature and of short duration
Operationally significant permanent changes at short notice
Temp changes of long duration made at short notice
When an AIP amendment/supplement is published - except when it consists of extensive text and graphics
Notam shall be distributed
On the basis of a request
Whenever poss at least 24hrs notice is desirable
Notam checklists are issued
At intervals of not more than 1 month
Notam - every month
Printed into plain lang
Snowtam is valid for
24hrs

Indication on a volmet that an a/d is closed de to snow/snow clearance
R/y surface descriptors and definitions
Dry - r/y is dry
Damp - surface shows a change of colour due to moisture
Wet - The surface is soaked but no standing water
Water patches - patches of standing water are visible
Flooded - extensive standing water is visible
Ashtam is valid for and colours
24hrs
Red - volcanic eruption is in progress above FL250
Orange - below 250
