What is a fibrous root system?
Many small roots that begin directly where the stem ends.
What is a taproot system?
A primary root with secondary roots.
What are the functions of roots?
To take in water and minerals out of the surrounding soil, they anchor the plant, store extra food
What is osmosis?
A process whereby water flows through a membrane, from a place with a higher concentration to a place with less water.
Can plants communicate and how?
Yes they can, they can talk or send messages and sense these words or messages.
What is a root cap?
The root cap protect the area where root cells divide.
What is the phloem?
Living cell that are connected, they transport glucose.
What is the xylem?
Dead cells merged together, they work like straws.
What is the cortex?
A thick layer with cells.
What are the parenchyma cells?
These cells store extra food they are part of the cortex.
