- 7th deadliest cancer for both sexes
- highest incidence in developed countries

Etiology of pancreatic cancer
A
- smoking
- diabetes mellitus
- cirrhosis
- pancreatitis
- hight fatty food
- obesity

Histology of pancreatic cancer
A
- most common is exocrine adenocarcinoma
- neuroendocrine carcinoma is common
- rarely endocrine (ie. insulinoma)

Symptoms of pancreatic cancer
A
- strong belt-like pain radiating to the back
- gall bladder obstruction
- jaundice
- weight loss
- dark urine
- steatorrhea
- Curvoisier’s sign: jaudice with enlarged gall bladder but no pain

A
- ERCP: endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
- endoscopic US
- abdominal US
- CT

Radiation therapy for pancreatic cancer
A
- most common: postop. w/ chemo
- postop: chemo (45-50 Gy)
- chemoradiotherapy is better that chemotherapy alone
- SBRT: 6wks, high accuracy, hypofractionated, high doses (<5cm)

Surgical therapy for pancreatic cancer
A
- preferred method (20%), often unresectable
- radical surgery

Pharmacological therapy for pancreatic cancer
A
- 80-90% treated w/ chemotherapy
- postoperative: gemcitabine + capecitabine
- locally advanced/metastatic: FOLFIRINOX
