Q
Describe the differences between paleo and keto diets.
A
Keto diet: goal is to enter a state of ketosis, where the body burns fat. This means eating lots of healthful fat, some protein and minimal carbs. In general, a person on a keto diet would consume: 70-80% fat, 20-25% protein, and 5-10% carbs. Carbs cannot be from grains or legumes. Carbs must be from leafy greens, fruits and berries.
Paleo diet: elimination of modern processed foods. This includes legumes, grains and dairy products. Encourages consumption of healthful fats, (meat, nut oils, butter, olive oil and avocados).
