Causes - what were the main causes of the flood?

NATURAL

A

Heavy tropical monsoon rain/season

Climate change

The monsoon rains were more intense, heavy amounts than normal (about 20% more than normal)

Melting glaciers that happened at the same time

Lower channel capacity because of more sedimentation (deposition)

HUMAN causes of the flood

Q

why were people mad at how the government reacted

A

Government not prepared for crisis, and it should have been because they knew that rainfall was very heavy and was predicted so should have prepared

Did not raise awareness

Government lagged necessary resources ( aircrafts/ saving equipment/knowledgeable/evacuation people/teams)

angered the people as the government took a very long time to reach certain places and didn’t send help

They didn’t have any water or food left and the government wasn’t doing much, they said the government didn’t care about their wellbeing.

Also did not find alternative places for people to move to (not even camps)
