POSITIVE IMPACTS ON MEXICO
High value of remittances (biggest flow) great for the national income as mexico is only exceeded by the oil exports (over 22 million in 2011) (55.9billion in 2022 remittances)
Less pressure on unemployment as people tend to leave areas where the unemployment rate is very high.
Lower pressure on housing stock and public services (especially in the cities where people are leaving)
NEGATIVE IMPACTS ON MEXICO
Loss of skilled and enterprise people (losing the more driven/most qualified and bright people)
Change of population structure because of emigration of young adults (particularly male)
People moving back and having different and new views and opinions which can be destabilizing for the economy
POSITIVE IMPACTS ON USA
Much higher average incomes
Lower unemployment rates
NEGATIVE IMPACTS ON USA
Undermines the opportunities of low skilled US workers
negative environmental effects because of increasing population
Threatens established US cultural values
The global economic crisis saw that unemployment was to rise by about 10%, the worst job situation in 25 years
People will resent the mexicans, especially if they are unemployed
