acetylsalicylic acid
(asprin) reduces pain, inhibits cox 1 + cox 2 receptiors
ibuprofen
(mortin + advil) headache, fever, migraine relief
naproxen
(aleve) muscle tissue and inflammation relief (arthritis and sprain pain) easiest on the heart
celecoxib
(celebrex) only inhibits the cox 2 enzymes, better for the stomach
methotrexate
(rheumatrex) DMARD (disease modifying antipheumatic drug) suppresses the immune system to combat rheumatoid arthritis
entanercept
(enbrel) newer DMARD, disrupts inflammatory process at the synovial (joint) fluid, delays disease progression

(indocin) NSAID used for gout (uric acid accumulation) known for an upset stomach
colchicine
(colcrys) used for acute gout flare ups
allpurinol
(zyloprim) decreases production of uric acid, prevents gout attacks, treatment for chronic gout

(imitrex) vasoconstriction of cranial arteries, treats migraines or cluster headaches
acetaminophen
(tylenol) relieves pain, discomfort and fever does NOTHING for inflammation (treat symptoms)
codine
moderate pain relief, can be used as cough suppressant as well
hydrocodone
(norco w/ tylenol) moderate - severe pain relief every 4-6 hours, only available as a combination medication
Norco 300/5 (acetaminophen-hydrocodone)
oxycodone (oxycontin)
(oxycontin) controlled release long-acting, every 12 hours for chronic pain
oxycodone (roxicodone)
(roxicodone, percodan, percocet) single or combination medications for moderate or severe pain
