broad spectrum, 10 day course, cheap, walking pneumonia
Azithromycin
more expenisve, 3-5 days similar to E-Mycin
Gentamicin
Big gun, gram negative bacilli, need peaks and troughs
Clindamycin
Gram positive staph. aureus, broad spectum used for GI issues
Sulfa-
Used to treat UTI’s (works in kidneys)
Metformin
Lowers BG levels, increases the insulin receptor sensitivity, first line of oral type 2 treatment
Glipizide
Second line type 2 treatment, squeeze last of insulin from pancreas, short term
Ceftriaxone
Used as pre-op for animal bites, also called Rocephin
Glimepiride
Second line type 2 treatment, squeeze last bit from pancreas, short term
Pioglitazone
lower blood sugar, last resort
Rosiglitazone
will lower bs, last resort
Levothyroxine
Raises T4 levels
Methimazole
Lowers T3 and T4 levels
Prednisone
Mimics cortisol in body
Glucagon
Will raise BG in instance of insulin created hypoglycemia
