Ask about any antibotic reactions, personal and familial, any skin rash needs to be checked (steven-johnson syndrome), angeodemia (swelling above face)
Vancomycin
Vancomycin Infusion Reaction (red man syndrome) can cause kidney failure, need peak and troughs
-cycline
NEVER GIVE EXPIRED, cramping, N+V
Erythromycin
Severe N+V, can lead to superinfections
Azithromycin
Less N+V, more expensive
Gentamicin
Ototoxic and nephrotoxic, may be deaf/on dialysis but will be alive
Clindamycin
GI distress can be fatal, 1x day diahrea okay, more than that is dangerous
Sulfa-
N+V, watch creatin and BUN levels
Ciprofloxacin
Severe 2019 black box warnings not used as much, N+V, depression
Metformin
does not cause hypoglycemia, can cause liver issues (pt symptoms tired/muscles hurt), can cause lactic acidosis (pt symptoms malaise, hyperventilation)
Glipizide
can increase weight and cause hypoglycemia, slowly loses affect
Glimepiride
can increase weight, can cause hypoglycemia, overtime does not work as well
Pioglitazone
causes bladder cancer, heart failure possible from fluid overload
Rosiglitazone
heart failure from possible fluid overload, weight gain 4-7lbs
Levothyroxine
Thermostat turned up, nervousness, insomnia, tremors, tachy, headache, palpitation, hypertension
