Pace-Maker Mediated Tachycardia (PMT) Flashcards
What are the 2 conditions that must exist for pace-maker mediated tachycardia (PMT) to occur?
- pts must have ability to conduct impulses from ventricles to the atria (appx 60-70% have this)
- atrium is repolarized and ready to be depolarized
What are the most common causes of pace-maker mediated tachycardia (PMT)?
Anything that causes AV dissociation such as:
- PVC
- Atrial non-capture
- atrial undersensing
- atrial oversensing
Which timing interval is meant to prevent pace-maker media tachycardia (PMT)?
PVARP
- retrograde P-wave fall within PVARP and are labeled as AR, which are not tracked
Which algorithm is designed to prevent pace-maker mediated tachycardia (PMT)?
PVC Response
What criteria is needed for a PMT to identified?
8 consecutive AS-VP cycles that began with a VP and has a VP-AS cycle length < 400ms
What action does the PMT intervention algorithm take when a PMT is detected?
- extends PVARP to 400ms
How long is the PMT Intervention feature off following an intervention?
90 secs
