The purpose of this order is to establish the procedures for making a safe forced entry into a structure or vehicle. Forced entries can be made by any ____ ______. This order supports the Sheriff’s Office Core Value of “Always Improving.”

1. To rescue an individual inside a residence because of accident, injury, or a serious medical emergency. The use of Fire/Rescue as a resource in this capacity is applicable; or
2. In defense of life with the justifiable use of deadly force per Florida State Statute.
A _____ _____ or incident does not constitute the need for an emergency forced breach. If the incident cannot be resolved using traditional methods and resources, the S.W.A.T. Team should be requested. The safety of the employees should not be compromised because of the threat of suicide.

When serving an arrest warrant, the detective/officer will attempt to gain compliance and apprehend the suspect. Other arrest options should be considered (surveillance and arrest or ruse, etc.).
