The purpose of this order is to provide all personnel with the procedures for providing emergency assistance to highway users. Providing ______ and ______ to the public is a basic police function.

Whenever officers are dispatched to or find a motorist who appears to be stranded, they shall lend appropriate assistance, whenever possible. The following information should be considered when rendering assistance:

4. Making minor repairs;

6. Assisting non-residents in finding lodging (motels, missions etc.); or
7. Providing transportation away from hazardous locations or environments.
