Obstructive Lung Disease 3 Flashcards
1-2; ≥2
10; 10
Pre-existing or concurrent asthma that subjectively worsens in the workplace
work-exacerbated asthma
_____ results from single or multiple exposures to a nonimmunologic, irritant substance at a high level of intensity.
Irritant-induced asthma
Acute form of irritant-induced asthma that is triggered by a single acute high level exposure to a nonimmunologic stimulus
reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS)
Bronchial one-way valves improved these 2 things
lung function; QOL
Dx for COPD-like Sx, reduced FEV1 and FVC, but normal ratio
PRISm (Preserved Ratio Impaired Spirometry)
Does PRISm portend a worse prognosis than for smokers w/ normal spirometry?
Yes! (symptoms, exercise, and all-cause mortality)
Exclusion criteria from bronchial thermoplasty trials (3)
≥3 exacerbations/year, FEV1 <60%, chronic sinus disease
What does bronchial thermoplasty reduce in the long-term (up to 3 years)?
exacerbations/hospitalizations
Tx for new PsA on sputum culture in CF patient
inhaled Tobramycin x 28 days
Asthma from work (esp. isocyanate exposure) w/ no Hx of asthma/atopy
occupational asthma
time course to Dx RADS
Sx within 24 hours of exposure lasting 3 months
