Q
What are the primary neurological imaging methods?
A
CT and MRI (diagnostic)
Angiography (intervention)
2
Q
When is CT useful?
A
trauma and to assess ventricular size
3
Q
What are the advantages of CT
A
fast and easily accessible
4
Q
When is MRI used?
A
most of the time (better image than CT)
5
Q
What are the advantages of MRI?
A
no radiation
superior resolution
(does take longer)
6
Q
How would infarction present on CT and MRI?
A
CT - lighter grey segment
MRI - white segment
7
Q
How can subdural, subarachnoid and extradural haemorrhages be differentiated on CT?
A
Extradural - causes skull expansion/fracture
subdural - occurs in elderly
subarachnoid - present with thunderclap headache
