Q

What can be used to prioritize the various forms of network traffic such as Applications, VOIP and Video?

A
  • Quality Of Service( QOS)
  • Note your Network infrastructure must support QoS
  • In Windows QOS assigns Differentiated Services Code Points( DSCP) which allows a network administrator to identify various types of web traffic and prioritize appropriately. These Code points are in the field in the IP header.
  • There are two different types of DSCP code points one called Type of Service( TOS) field for IPv4 and Traffic Class Octet for IPv6. Can be configured under Group policy settings or Local computer settings to assign QOS policies or rules
