Inside of Windows where would you go to set up a new Network connection?
A
- Go to the Control Panel
- Go to the Network and Sharing Center
- Select the option “ Setup a new connection or network.
You will then be directed to a step by step wizard to finish the setup process.

What is a VPN concentrator and what is it used for?
A
- Used to create an encrypted tunnel between your system and the office network. Completely safe.
- Your laptop communicates over an encrypted tunnel over the internet to a VPN concentrator
- This allows you to communicate with a private network such as a corporate office which would not be possible without a VPN connection
- The VPN concentrator takes the web traffic/packets and encrypts them before sending the traffic to the Corporate office.

What is built into Windows to allow easier VPN connection setup?
A
- Built-in VPN client included with Windows
- Has ability to include smart card functionality for multi factor authentication
- Security authentications could include things such as passwords( something that you know), smart card reader( something you have) or fingerprint login( something that you are)
- Once the connection has been setup you can connect from the network status icon in the taskbar and click to provide credentials

If the main broadband internet connection is down what is a legacy type internet connection that can be very handy in this type of situation?

- Dial up Connection
- Uses standard phone lines
- Authentication is simple provide username and password and phone number to dial
- Can connect and disconnect from the Network status icon.

What is the encryption type used for a Wireless WPA2 Enterprise connection?
A
- 802.1X authentication along with AES encryption.
- Instead of using a preshared key to connect to a wireless network you just use your username and password used to login to the system.

If you are in an area that doesn’t have access to a 802.11 Wireless connection what else could you use instead?
A
- WWAN connection
- Wireless Wide Area Network( Built in mobile technology)
- Requires a Wireless WAN adaptor card being built into the system. ( Antenna connections). If your wireless device doesn’t have one of this WWAN cards you can plug in an external one via a USB port or use Tether or Hotspot functionality.
- Often you will need Third party software to allow this functionality.
