Net Filtration Pressure Flashcards
What is net filtration pressure?
Pressure that causes filtration is the blood pressure in the glomerular capillaries.
Calculated by: glomerular capillary blood pressure - (blood colloidal osmotic pressure + glomerular capsule pressure)
Two other pressure oppose glomerular filtration.
Blood colloid osmotic pressure
Glomerular capsule pressure
When either of these pressures increase glomerular filtration is decreased and vice versa.
Nfr is typically 10mmHg
Abbie much fluid is forced into the capsular space daily?
150 liters for females
180 liters for males
Which arterioles is smaller and helps raise BP in the glomerular capillaries?
Efferent arterioles
What will cause decreased net filtration pressure after decreased flow into the glomerulus?
Construction of the afferent arterioles
What will cause an increase in nfr?
Construction of the efferent arterioles which slows outflow of blood
