Needs Analysis Flashcards
objective of performing a needs analysis
gives S&C coach idea of what the overall goal of athlete should be + what physiological adaptations need to occur
what 2 things does needs analysis look at
-analysis of sport
-anaysis of athlete
analysis of sport looks at what 3 things
-physiologic needs (energy system of sport)
-biomechanic needs (movements the sport does)
-injury analysis
2 duties of S&C coach
-increase performance
-decrease injury risk
biggest risk factor for injury
previous injury
acute injury
occurs in moment of movement
overuse injury
injury occurs from movement over time
who created the FMS
Gray Cook
open kinetic chain
-leg curl, bench press, lat pulldown, etc.
-good for isolation + hypertrophy
-more shear stress on joint (perpendicular)
closed kinetic chain
-squat, deadlift, pullup, pushup, etc.
-more activation of synergist + stabilizing muscles
-more compressive force on joint
benefit more from open or closed chain movement?
closed chain
-because more comparable to what we do in life; running, jumping, walking, etc.
exercise assessments are judged on what 2 things
-validity
-reliability
validity
the capability of a test to measure what it is intended to measure
reliability
the ability of a test to produce the same results across repeated measures
