Myelography Flashcards
Where do you inject positive contrast media for a myelography?
Subarachnoid space
Where does CSF live in the spinal cord?
Subarachnoid space
What is the max concentration of a positive contrast media to minimize irritation?
250mg/mL
What are the most commonly used positive contras medias?
Iohexol and iopamidol
Myelography is not used for which type of motor neuron disease?
Not used for LMN disease
Should you use myelography for lumbosacral disease?
No (b/c spinal cord ends in lumbar region)
Where can you inject the positive contrast media into the subarachnoid space?
Lumbar vertebrae or cisterna magna
What should you always do before performing a myelogram?
Survey radiographs first
What is used to help place a spinal needle into desired position?
Fluoroscopy
Which radiographic view is best for myelography?
Lateral
Which myelographic radiographic view is more difficult to interpret
VD
When is an oblique view used?
When VD is unclear about lateralization of a lesion
What are dynamic radiographic views?
Flexed/extended and traction/neutral views
What are the 4 types of myelography interpretation?
Normal, extradural, intradural-extramedullary, intramedullary
Which type of lesion presents a golf tee sign on myelography?
Intradural-extramedullary
