Musculoskelatal Dysfuncion In Children Flashcards
What do we watch out for in patients on antibiotic therapy for osteomyelitis
Renal and liver failure
Medications for osteomyelitis
Analgesics- acetaminophen, ib profin
Non opioids nd opioids for severe pain
Antibiotic therapy up to 6 wks thru a central line
What do we administer for tractions oth skeletal and skin
Analgesics - pain
Muscle relaxants
What bacteria causes osteomyelitis
Staphylococcus aureus
During the course of antibiotics for osteomyelitis what do we need to be looking at
Renal and liver function
Medication for post surgery scoliosis (internal fixation system)
IV fluids (hydrate n med admin
Analgesics severe pain -PCA pump
Pain interventions for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
NSAIDS
METHOTREXATE
CORTICOSTERIODS
NSAIDS for juvenile idiopathic arthritis
IBU profin , Naproxen - can cause GI upset so take with food
Methotrexate in juvenile idiopathic arthritis
For pt that have failed NSIDS alone , started w combo NSAIDS- check CBC and LFT
CORTICOSTERIODS for JIA
Strong anti inflammation medication - oral or injected into affected joints or IV infusion
If pt is experiencing uveitis in JIA what can be used as treatment
CORTICOSTERIODS give in drops
They want to do lowest dose that is affective for the shortest sound of time
How can we preserve joint function and prevent deformity in JIA
Normal strength activities , prescribed PT, swimming (gives freedom of movemen)
Warm packs. , warms baths to. Relieve pain and stiffness
