Nerve root, S + M, and cause of injury of femoral nerve

A

L2-4 (same as obturator) - out under piriformis anteriorly thru greater sciatic foramen
S: lower ant thigh, knee, medial calf
M: hip flexion (psoas major) + knee extend (quad)
Pelvic frx
Mass on iliopsoas/iliacus

Nerve root, S + M, and cause of injury of common fibular

A

L4-S2 - lateral branch of sciatic nerve - will split into superficial and deep fibular nerves
S: lateral calf + top foot +
M: dorsiflex + evert + extend toes (all up)
Damage foot will be plantar + invert
Compress or fracture fibular head
