Muscle Tissue Flashcards
What is the function of muscle tissues?
-Function is produced by movement
-Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth
Which tissue?
Where is it?
Is it voluntarily or involuntarily?
What are the cells attached to?
Is it stratified?
And does it have one nucleus or multiple?
Skeletal tissue
-Can be controlled voluntarily (only one)
-Cells attach to connective tissue
-Cells are stratified
-Cells have more than one nucleus
(In between muscle and bone)
Which tissue?
Where is it & what does it do?
Is it voluntarily or involuntarily?
What are the cells attached to?
Is it stratified?
And does it have one nucleus or multiple?
Cardiac Muscle
-Found in heart.
-Pumps blood (involuntary)
-Cells attached to other cardiac muscle other cardiac muscle cells are intercalated disks
-Cells are stratified
-One nucleus per cell

Smooth muscle
-Involuntary
-Surrounds hollow organs
-Attached to other smooth muscle cells
-NO visible striations
-One nucleus per cell

Nervous Tissues
-Neurons and nerves support cells
-Function is to send impulses to other areas of the body
-In your brain & part of your spinal cord
-Multiple nuclei
-Irritability & conductivity
-(Involuntarily) I think
