Q

What are three type of muscles contractions

A

CONCENTRIC - contracts and shortens ( climbing stairs )

Eccentric - contracts but lengthens due to the load ( carrying a load )

Isometric- contracts but remains the same length due to the load ( in tug of war)

Q

What are two types of muscle types

A

Agonists (prime movers) are the main activating muscles,

Antagonists work as a pair with and in opposition to agonists. One relaxes as the other contracts to create movement.

Q

What are the other two types of muscle types

A

Synergists - work to assist agnostics or antagonist muscles
Fixators - are muscles which stabilise bones , bones enabling agonist to work effectively

Q

What is orgin and intersection ( MUSCLES

A

Orgin is - the attachment of muscle closest to the centre of the body.
Insertion - the attachment of muscle furthest away from the centre body

Q

Tendons : muscle statements

A

Tendons are strong fibrous bands which link muscle to bones and transmits the contractile force of the the muscle to the bone , creating movements. The tendons are inflexible and do not contract and stretch

Q

Ligaments : muscle attachment

A

Ligaments are strong fibrous elastic structure which stabilises joints by joining bone to bones. Ligaments are pliable enough to allow movement of a joint but prevent overstretching

Q

Fasciae

A

Consist of fibrous connective tissue. A fascia separates different muscles, protecting them while allowing them to move alongside one another .egz facial muscles can move whereas skull cannot move

Q

Muscle dystrophy

A

Is a genetic condition caused by change in muscle fibres bc of lack of protein, which could impact muscle function causing muscle weakness
Cardiovascular
Irregular heart beat
- the heart is a muscle, the walls of heart become thinner and less likely to pump blood around body
Unable to contract ( irregular heart rest and heart faliure )
Lungs
Shallow breathing
- the muscles in lung suhh as diagrapm and intercostal muscles damage means difficulty breathing
Increase mucus production - means more lung infections ( PNEUMONIA)
And persistent coughing
Digestive problem -
Weight loss
osephgusus and abdominal problems causes malnutrition and weight loss
