A

food is ingested ( taken in) through the mouth , where it is chewed up ( masicated) and formed into a ball ( bolus ) by the tonguw to enable swalloling

A

the food is pushed into the osephugus and is conveyed by perstalsis ( alternate anagonstic contractions of the longitudinal and circular muscles of the wall of the alimentary canal) to the stomach

digestion

A

food enter thr stomach through the cardaic sphincter ( a muscle which opens and closes the stomach bag). in the stomach food is churned mechanically and it is chemically broken down by gastric juices to a liquid ( chyme) . food in the stomach for about 5 hours while protein digestion begins

chyme passes through the pyloric sphincter muscle into the duodenum ( the first part of the small intestines) , pertalsis contiues to break down food , while gastric juices assist with chemical digestion

absorption of digested food is the next part of small intestines
once nuterients from digested food have diffused into blood stream they are transported to the cells metabolism
