colon and cecum

and anus
what happens during ingestion
food is ingested ( taken in) through the mouth , where it is chewed up ( masicated) and formed into a ball ( bolus ) by the tonguw to enable swalloling
what happens during perstalsis
the food is pushed into the osephugus and is conveyed by perstalsis ( alternate anagonstic contractions of the longitudinal and circular muscles of the wall of the alimentary canal) to the stomach
digestion
food enter thr stomach through the cardaic sphincter ( a muscle which opens and closes the stomach bag). in the stomach food is churned mechanically and it is chemically broken down by gastric juices to a liquid ( chyme) . food in the stomach for about 5 hours while protein digestion begins
chyme passes through the pyloric sphincter muscle into the duodenum ( the first part of the small intestines) , pertalsis contiues to break down food , while gastric juices assist with chemical digestion
absorbtion
absorption of digested food is the next part of small intestines
once nuterients from digested food have diffused into blood stream they are transported to the cells metabolism
Egestion
Colon
Unidigested food passes through large intestines where water absorption takes place and forms into semi soild fescues
Fectus is stored in retum and excreted via anus
What are proteins
Protease
Peptides and amino acids pass through cappliaries of small intestines into the bloodstream and are carried to liver , suitable for use in body tissue.
Excess excerted as urea by kidney
Repair damage cells / produce new ones
Carbohydrates
Amalyse simple sugars
Glucose a sugar and a product for carbohydrates enters the bloodstream to be carried by liver regulated and stored for body tissues. Excess is turned into gat
Fats
Lipiase
Fatty acids and glycerol
The products of fat digestion
Passes into the lacteals and transported through the lymphatic system before entering bloodstreeam
Provide energy
Micro organisms
Assisting with absorption undigested carbohydrates
Suppressing harmful microbial growth
Stimulating an immune response go harmful bacteria
Prevent inflammatory bowel disease
