Q

Description of the STSS

A

Receives all stimuli from sense
Selective attention is used to focus on certain things or ignore
Info focused on is passed to the short term memory store

Q

Advantages of the model

A
  • Explains how lots of info is dealt with
  • realistic in how info is filtered from surroundings
  • those with memory conditions remember LTM
  • LTM explains how skills learnt ages ago can be performed
  • Simplifies memory process
17
Q

Disadvantages of the model

A
  • Too simplified/ not proven
  • Someone might remember one thing but not the other
  • Doesn’t account for individual differences e.g. duration
  • Doesn’t prove distinction/ interaction of LTM and STM
  • Doesn’t account for interest/motivation/concentration
