A
  1. The bodies immune system attacks the myelin sheath in the CNS (Mistakes it for foreign body)
  2. Myelin is partially or fully stripped from the nerve fibres
  3. Electrical impulses slow down
  4. The myelin sheath may heal and repair and some return of function
