Patient presents with high build up of plaque on her teeth with demineralization of the enamel and brown/black decay. What is your diagnosis?

What are some of the risk factors associated with dental caries?
sugar, bacteria can be passed through saliva, too little fluoride, diet high in sugar, special needs patient, arthritic patient, medication side effects (SOME PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY MORE PRONE)
How would you treat this patient?
Fillings, cleaning, ref to dental. Supplement with fluoride - too much fluoride can cause fluorodosis (white spots on the teeth).
What are some of the complications with dental caries?
Discomfort, pain, fractured teeth, inability to bite down, sensitivity, and abscess.
