What is the epidemiology of Chronic Otitis Media?
A
mostly children, has to have perforation (you can have perforation with acute also), no improvement in 2 weeks with antibiotics

What is the etiology of Chronic Otitis Media?
A
P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, fungi, MRSA

What are the risk factors for Chronic Otitis Media?
A
children, lower class, poor nutrition, smoking, eustachian tube abnormalities

How would you treat?
A
Culture first, irrigate, topical antibiotic (cipro drops) - as long as there is no perforation!
