When are vacation picks
Between Jan 5th and the last day of February.
How many vacation spots are available?
A max of 5 spots per shift shall be allowed for 22 weeks.
And a max of 4 vacation spots Per’s shift the rest of the year.
How many vacation spots per tank can be taken per shift?
Up to 4 paramedics will be allowed off at one time.
Not more than 3 officers will be allowed off at one time.
No limit on AO.
Can you work while on vacation?
No. Except in the case of a declared emergency by the fire chief.
In this case, time worked will be coded as straight time and the equivalent number of vacation hours will be credited back.
Rules for canceling vacation
Canceling vacation will be the same process as requesting.
If the vacation tour is filled, you have to cancel the full vacation time taken.
If there is available vacation, you can cancel incremental time taken.
If a vacation tour reopens, how does it become available?
The BC must reopen the vacation by email for 1 tour minimum except when the vacation is canceled less than 21 days in advance in which case the BC may allow vacation selection within 1 shift.
What is incremental time off?
Incremental time off is considered vacation, due time, or SLB taken in 10h or 14h blocks.
In what cases is an employees vacation tour or incremental time off reopened to the 56h suppression staff?
If an employee is placed on workers comp, modified duty, special assignment, sick leave or to an40 hour work week.
How is a vacation tour reopened for selection when an employee has moved to a 40h?
It will be reopened in order of seniority. This will be done as soon as determined that the member will not be returning to a 56h schedule. And no later than 1000h of the shift prior to the scheduled vacation tour or shift.
