What are the two components of anxiety

What is mood
A persistent, subjective state, expressed in thought, emotion, behavior, and bodily functions
Anxiety Disorders
Disorders that share features of excessive and persistent bouts of fear and anxiety and related behavioral disturbances
Agrophobia
marked, or persistent fear or anxiety about two or more of the following situations accompanied by avoidance of the situations:
- using public transportation
- being in open spaces
- being in shops, theaters, cinemas
- standing in line or being in a crowd
- being outside of the home alone
Treat with simple exposure plus SSRIs
The symptom cluster that defines aniety disorders embodies all of the following basic elements
- arousal
- negative expectation
- avoidance of the situation
Panic Disorder definition
Characterized by recurrent panic attacks occurring over at least one month and involving anticipatory anxiety and avoiding situations
Social Phobia
Fear with blushing, of anticipated humiliation or rejectipon
PTSD involves what three cluster symptoms
Intrusion, arousal, avoidance
Remember that mood disorder includes major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, dysthymic disorder, and cyclothymic disorder

Mania
Distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and increased activity or energy lasting at least 1 week.
Diagnosis requires hospitalization or at elast three of the following
Distraction
Irresponsibility
Grandiosity
Flight of ideas
Activity rise
Sleep need decreases
Talkativeness
Bipolar 1 disorder is diagnosed if….
Person has one or more episodes of mania with recurrent depressive episodes
Bipolar II disorder is diagnosed if…
person has recurrent depressive episodes and one or more episodes of hypomania
Cyclothymic disorder
characterized by rapidly alternating mood states occurring simultaneously over a period of 2 years.
What is panic disorder
characterized by recurrent panic attacks that occur over a period of at least one month
Social phobia is what
fear (sometimes panic) that is often associated with blushing. Associated with anticipated humiliation or rejection by others in a social situation
Simple phobia (like fear of public speaking) often treated how?
With Benzos
Acute stress disorder
When immediate reaction to trauma involves the three symptom clusters associated with PTSD (Arousal, intrusion, avoidance) but lasts only up to one month
Generalized anxiety disorder
a persistent, GREATER THAN 6 MOS , pattern of uncontrollable worries about health, safety, access to resources, etc…

Gotta have 5/9 and they must be around for over 2 weeks
What is dysthymic disorder
Low mood for 2 or more years, never without symptoms.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
week before onset of menses, pt suffers from a variety of symptoms that include irritability, anger, anxiety, depression, etc…
- symptoms must have lasted for the better part of a year and must be documented for at least 2 menstrual cycles in the past
Cyclothymic disorder
Rapidly alternating mood states, occuring for at least two years but never meeting the criteria for major depression, mania or hypomania
What the hell is bipolar One
Classic Manic depression. Diagnostic criteria: One or more episodes of mania with recurrent depressive episodes. Must have a distinct period of abnormally elevated mood lasting at least one week
Bipolar II
Diagnosed when they have recurrent depressive episodes and one or more episodes of hypomania (periods that don’t meet the criteria for mania)
The up episodes are rarely as disruptive as in bipolar 1
