Module 11.18 On board maintenance Flashcards
What is the purpose of the On Board Maintenance System (OBMS)?
Test aircraft systems, record and store the fault data and provide info to the engineer
In the latest OBMS, what can the aircraft do?
Relay the fault info to the ground while inflight
What can the FMS also store?
AMM, TSM, FIM etc
What is the purpose of the FMC?
- Fault status
- Initiate tests
- Generate fault reports from prev flight legs
- Up/down load data and software
- Fault ident
How do you operate the CMS?
Via the MCDU
What is the main processing unit of CMS?
The CMC
What does CMC crosstalk enable?
Share and monitor faults between CMC’s and no data loss if one CMC is shutdown due to poor health
What is a hard failure?
When the system doesn’t work at all
When would BITE be used?
When there is power to the system
When would reporting mode be on the MCDU?
- Interactive mode?
Inflight - reporting mode
On ground - Interactive, only when selected
When it displays a fault how does it show it?
ATA chapter reference + most probable cause
What is the data stored in?
Non volatile memory
On older aircraft, what can be used to download data?
Disk drive units
What are the two disk drive modes? What is different about the two modes?
- Automatic, data can be viewed and downloaded
- Manual, data can only be downloaded
If there is no MDDU how can uploading and downloading functions be preformed?
Through a connector using a portable data loader
