What is the position of each coloured nav light?
Red - left side of the aircraft
Green - right side of the aircraft
White - rear of the aircraft
What angle must the left and right nav and rear nav be visible?
- Left and right nav must be visible 110° from dihedral angle
- Rear, 70° either side of the dihedral (total of 140°)
What are the 2 types of anti collisions?
- Rotating beam
- Flashing lights
What is the flash rate of anti collision lights?
60-70 rpm
How are landing lights fitted?
So that a clear beam of light can be projected forward to illuminate the pilots field of vision

- Wing LE

- Promote airline
- Allow ATC to identify livery
- Illuminate end of aircrafts body

Single power failure doesn’t result in complete light failure
How is dimming controlled?
Auto or manual
