What are the models of health?
There are two models the biomedical model and the biopsychosocial model
Describe the biomedical model of health?
It is built from the perception that the state of health is defined purely in the absence of illness.
What is a criticism of the biomedical model of health?
The model is based on the idea that health is independent of social culture settings.
Describe the biopsychosocial model of health?
It looks at the interconnection between biology, psychology, and social environmental factors. It relates to the holistic care approach which looks at thoughts, feelings, and history of psychological problems.
In regard to the biopsychosocial model what are biological, psychological, and social factors?
- Biological factors are genetic and biochemical
- Psychological factors are mood, personality, and behaviour
- Social factors are about culture, family, and socioeconomics
