What is anger?
an emotional and physical response to the perception of threat

it explains how the individuals attitude affects their behaviour which will affect the attitude of their peers, which will affect their behaviour which can affect your attitude.
What are the physiological effects of anger?
flushed face, feeling hot, sweating, clenched fist or jaw, shallowing breathing, increased pulse rate
Why is it important to recognise the physiological effects of anger?
it can help us identify when to start implementing anger management to control our emotions and identify when others are angry
Why is it important we can identify when other people are angry?
it helps us prevent destructive expression of anger
What is GAS ( general adaption syndrome )
stress is identifies and the body produces a flight or fight response of anger. There is resistance to this anger as the body attempts to cope with the anger. Exhaustion is when we return to our normal emotional state
What can the non-expression of anger lead to
suppression of emotions
replacement of anger by fear or depression
displacement of anger onto less threatening people
passive aggression
denial
repression of anger
What are triggers for anger in a clinical environment
loss of control damaged pride fustration grief abuse of drugs mental illnes poor communication feeling let down or lied to
How can you identify that a patient is angry
shouting swearing/ verbal abuse oversensitivity aggressive posture fist clenched frowning
What are the 5 stages of conflict
discomfort, incident, misunderstanding, tension and crisis
