TWENTY FIVE (25)
1) Natural shrinkage of the Search Rope = 25 feet
2) Officers report into the Command Post alone and instruct their
members to standby by at least 25 feet from the ICP.

approximately 25 feet apart with control panels facing outwards.

TWO HUNDRED (200)

1) Inflatable water rescue hose holds 10 people
2) TL basket can reach points 10 feet below grade
3) Original NYS Report of Motor a Vehicle Accidents (MV-104)
completed and sent to NYS Department of Motor Vehicle within 10
days.
4) When disinfecting SCBA regulator, allow 10 minutes of contact time
to disinfect prior to rinsing.
5) Pak Tracker receives signal from a PASS device that has been in full
alarm for 10 seconds, the receiver will emit a 2 tone audible alarm and
the LCD display will show the SCBAs ID (unit and member
assignment) and relative signal strength.
6) Members shall maintain a safe distance of 10 inches from a driver
airbag at motor vehicle operations.
7) Fog streams = minimum approach distance of 10 feet to catenary
wires.
8) If elevator has a two speed system, commonly found in buildings
over 10 stories, members will shut off power and then turn it back
on. If the car is to restart it will do so within 10 seconds.
TEN TO FIFTEEN (10-15)

1) Aerial Ladder = With water flowing and a man climbing (15-20 feet /
70 to 80 degree angle)
FIFTEEN (15)
1) Members in contact with bleach should wash eyes / skin thoroughly
for at least 15 minutes.
2) Fire officers reporting for duty shall report 15 minutes prior to tour.
3) No rig should be driven in excess of 15 mph when turning corners
4) Serious brush fires occur when winds are in excess of 15 mph
5) Service life of an SCBA cylinder is 15 years
6) When intake pressure drops below 15 psi, the pump operator shall
have his or her intake supply augmented.
7) Radiation fallout = 15 minutes
8) If no condition exists in front a building requiring a definite position
with the aerial ladder, place the center of the turntable 15 feet from
the side wall passed on your approach.
9) Smoke detectors shall be located on or near the ceiling and within 15

EIGHTEEN (18)
1) Max depth an apparatus can be driven through water is 18 inches
2) NOV - Issue repeat violation - within 18 months of a 1st violation:
Must be same respondent, same law/rule, same premises.
3) Pipe wrench in standpipe kit = minimum 18 inches
TWENTY (20)
1) 20’ radius for power saw circle of danger

THIRTY (30)
1) Highway flares burn for approximately 30 minutes
2) Operations with the honda generator requiring max output should be
limited to 30 min.
3) Purple K extinguisher has a coverage of 30 square feet
4) Snow chains = no rig driven in excess of 30 mph
5) ETA greater than 30 min for a utility company at a manhole incident:
A) Unit will remain on scene and respond to alarms leaving one member at incident. B) Leave one member at scene and return to quarters (officer will be responsible for relief of member) C) Cone and tape off manhole and go back in service.
6) After sealing off an area with a confirmed biological release, avoid
re-entry into the site for at least 30 min to one hour.
7) CFRD unit must transmit a 10-99 for any situation where the
company officer determines that the Company will likely remain in
the scene for 30 minutes or more (extrication, multiple patients, CPR)
8) Siren is a low speed warning device linked to about a 125 foot range
and a speed of about 30 mph.
9) Aerial = building with narrow frontage is 30 feet or less
Large building is considered more than 30 feet
10) Facepiece Respirator = Inspect Facepiece/adapter/Scott CBRN
CAP 1 canister before first use and at least
every 30 days and/or on the first day of each
month.
11) Handie talkie times out at 30 seconds. Audible warning at 26
seconds.
12) Multiple member injury report - If the officer is on leave, he shall
prepare a report as soon as possible upon returning from work. If
the leave extends more than 30 days, a regularly assigned officer
shall complete the report.
FIFTY (50)
1) Commercial Garbage Truck fire = No one allowed within 50 feet
2) Blocking apparatus on highway = at least 50 feet away
3) TL scrub area covers the front of the building 60 feet high and 50 feet
wide, and will cover a 100 foot frontage on the lower 3 floors of a
building.
4) High Pressure Pumping = maintain safety zones of at least
50 feet around a working engine in all
directions including the high pressure
supply hose.
5) CORE HT relay = LCC is positioned at the bottom of the subway
entrance stairs. If token booth clerk is within 50
yards of the stairs to the street, contact train
dispatcher through the clerk.
6) CORE HT relay = OV is positioned at the foot of the stairs leading to
the platform, if it is within 50 yards of the LCC.
7) CORE HT relay = Roof FF is approximately 50 yards from the stairs
on the platform for relay.
8) High Rise Nozzle = 50 psi nozzle pressure with water flowing
9) 1 3/4” line = 50 psi nozzle pressure + 20 psi friction loss to calculate
operating pressure.
10) Pointing the Pak Tracker in the direction of the largest relative signal
and moving in that direction should lead to the activated SCBA. When
the signal strength rises above the 50% level, the row of LEDs will
begin to light starting with the red at the bottom, yellow in the middle,
and green at the top.
11) Akron stacked tips (2” = no more than 50 psi)
12) Emergency Evacuation Device = underground and grade level
stations, located 50 feet south of
the southbound platform.
13) High Axle Apparatus should not proceed through water depths of
50 inches.

ONE HUNDRED (100)
1) Motor Vehicle Fires = Prevent onlookers from standing in front of or
to the rear of vehicles for a distance of at least
100 feet.
2) Forestry hose for brush fires is yellow, 1” hose in 100’ lengths
3) LSR Training Rope maximum 100 slides on each end
4) PRA mounted on the left side of the SCBA back frame, reduces the
high pressure breathing air received from the cylinder. Consisting of
two systems, the PRA normally reduces the operating pressure to
100 psi before entering the regulators low pressure hose. The
regulator then controls the pressure within the facepiece to slightly
above atmospheric.
5) TL scrub area covers the front of the building 60 feet high and 50 feet
wide, and will cover a 100 foot frontage on the lower 3 floors of a
building.
6) CORE HT relay = Engine Officer is positioned approximately 100
yards (line of sight) from the Roof FF on the
platform.

FOUR HUNDRED (400)
1) Sound Powered Telephone = 400’ wire wound around a reel
SIX HUNDRED (600)
1) Apparatus no closer than 600 feet to a leak in the Buckeye Pipeline
2) 20 lb dry chemical extinguishers at power removal boxes every 600
feet in Under River Rail Systems.
3) Power removal boxes in URR = every 600 feet
4) Section valves in URR = 600’ apart
5) Foam handline with eductor would be useful for a gasoline spill that
is approximately 600 square feet.
6) 3rd stage pumpers = Required for pressures exceeding 600 psi
ONE THOUSAND (1000)
1) Hazmat placards must be posted on trucks transporting over 1000
lbs of material.
2) Flag persons stationed 1000 feet on both sides of a Buckeye
Pipeline railroad incident.
3) Foam Carriers = booster tanks filled with 1000 gallons of
Fluoroprotein or Fluoropolydol (Alcohol Resistant
Fluoroprotein Foam)
4) Copy of MV-104 sent to the Safety Command Accident Claims unit
within 96 hours of an accident resulting in death, personal injury or
damage over $1000 to the property of one person or if the dollar
amount cannot be estimated
THINGS THAT ARE RED
1) Standpipe Siamese
2) 1st floor chute in a city housing project indicating an incinerator will
be painted red.
3) Red barrier tape = use to tape off Exclusion (hot) Zone
4) Red background on an SCBAs PRA indicates a truck company.
5) 1 red light flashing rapidly on HUD = 1/4 cylinder (leave area
immediately)
6) High voltage wiring required to be red on roof tops.
7) Red globe outside subway station indicates that there may or may
not be a token booth clerk and the stairway may be closed at so,e
point during a 24 hour day.
8) At subway entrances with High Entrance Entrance Turnstiles (HEETs)
a FD 1620 lock designated with a red cylinder faceplate has been
installed on the gate that is adjacent to the HEET.
9) Nolan rail cart = red square painted in corner that denotes location of
wheel lock.
10) When a member activates his EAB his company, position and name
will be listed in red in both “radio status” and “MAYDAY” areas
