When bacteria from one food cross onto another food and contaminate it
Food poisoning
An illness caused by eating ir drinking food which contains large numbers of pathogenic bacteria
Salmonella
It is in the intestines and is spread by flies, vermin and poor standards of living it if found in meat, poultry, eggs and shellfish
Staphylococcus
Found in the nose, throat, skin, cuts and boils, should cover cuts, sneezes and coughs from food can affect unpasteurized milk and cold meats
Listeria
The germ prefers lower temperatures, in pâtés, poultry and coleslaw can cause miscarriage
E.coli
Is found in the intestines, and is spread by poor hygiene or undercooked meat, it is found in undercooked beef, salami, unpasteurized milk

Store perishables in a cool place
Check expiry dates on perishables
Cool and cover leftovers in fridges
