Cereals, potatoes, root vegetables, pulse vegetables.
What are the sources of fibre?
Vegetables, fruit, brown rice, brown bread
What are the functions of carbohydrate?
Sugar and starch:heat and energy
Fibre:prevent constipation and other bowel diseases
Fibre:give fullness
How does fibre prevent constipation?
It absorbs the water, it becomes bulky.
What are refined cereals?
Cereals that have been processed and the fibre gets removed
What does whole cereals mean?
These haven’t been processed to lose fibre
