MI Flashcards
1
Q
Diagnosis: first 6 hrs
A
In the first 6 hrs, ECG gold standard.
2
Q
Troponin vs. CK-MB
A
Cardiac troponin I rises after 4 hrs, elevated for 7-10 days;
more specific than other protein markers.
CK-MB: mostly from myocardium but also from skeletal;
thus good for reinfarction as it returns to normal after 48hrs.
3
Q
EKG findings
A
EKG changes include ST elevation (transmural infarcts), ST depression (subendothelial), and pathologic Q wave (transmural infarct)
4
Q
Type of infarcts:
transmural
A
Increased necrosis
Affects entire wall
EKG showing ST elevation and Q waves
5
Q
Type of infarcts:
subendocardial
A
Ischemic necrosis of <50% of ventricle wall
Subendocardium esp vulnerable to ischemia
ST depression on EKG
