Pharmacology and presentation of Metoclopramide?

A

10mg/2ml ampoule

Antiemetic that inhibits dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT3 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone. Metoclopramide also promotes gut motility by inhibiting presynaptic and postsynaptic D2 receptors as well as presynaptic 5-HT4 receptors (smooth muscle).

  • Nausea/vomiting associated with: narcotic pain relief &/pr past Hx of migraine
