A benzodiazepine that potentiates GABAA (Inhibitory neurotransmitter) resulting in anxiolytic/sedative effects

- Acute behavioural disturbance (SAT Score >0).

Contraindications of Diazepam?
A
- Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
- Myasthenia gravis

Cautions of Diazepam?

- CNS Depression or ingestion of depressing agents
- Hypotension
- Use in elderly/children/frail
- Renal/hepatic function impairment
- Respiratory depression

- Extrapyramidal reactions (parkinsonian like symptoms, acute dystonia and akathisia)
