Q

Short-term sensory store (STSS)

A

Information from the senses passes through
Information is only kept for ONE second + if it isn’t considered important = it’s forgotten

Q

Short-term memory (STM)

A

Working memory
Lasts between 20-30 seconds before information is lost
Capacity = 5-9
Capacity can be increased by chunking = grouping the information
Info can be passed into long-term memory if practised

Capacity = limitless
Not forgotten BUT difficult to retrieve at times

Q

Hick’s law

A

The more choices a person has, the more information that needs processing
The longer it takes to process the information, the slower the reaction time

Q

Psychological refractory period (PRP)

A

Time taken to respond the a second stimulus
Explains why a performer is unable o quickly respond to a dummy/fake –>
e.g. Cruyff turn
